A French and History teacher for over twenty years, Rebecca strives to pass on her love of languages, history, and travel to her students. She has organized and managed past Ellison Tours for students and adults, and is a veteran of the DMC Battlefield Tours. Rebecca is an avid traveler, a photography enthusiast, and a foodie.  In her travels (thirty countries on five continents and counting!), she always looks for opportunities to learn about the people, the culture, and the history of the places she is visiting. Her photography is a way to look closer at these places and to remember her adventures. She loves to try local cuisine – especially the pastries! Having lived in France twice (Nantes and Bayeux), Rebecca always loves returning to the country she considers a second home.

Testimonials

"Based on several trips with Neil, I can highly recommend this experience."

- Kenneth William Topping (Shelburne, Ontario)

"100% recommend touring with Neil and CanHist! Unforgettable trips with experiences you won’t get with any other group. Lots of fun and deep learning as well. Neil is incredibly knowledgeable and makes the history relatable and relevant. And he brings in other experts to round out the experience, when something is outside the realm of his expertise. You will make great friends and remember this trip forever!"

- Martha MacNeil (Guelph, Ontario)

"I highly recommend this tour. I had the privilege of going on a CanHist tour led by Neil Orford in 2022. That’s myself and another member of the tour in the photo. It was amazing to be part of the ceremony and lay a wreath at Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium. Traveling with Neil, we learned, saw, and experienced so much. We made life long friends, and had fun, bonding over a love of history and travel. Every day was fabulous!"

- Anne Hodgson (Calgary, Alberta)

"We anticipated having a good time, but the overall experience exceeded our expectations. The tour found the perfect balance of poignancy and play, history and hilarity. The details and logistics were carefully planned and communicated, and the accommodations for a variety of travel styles and abilities were impressive. Both Neil and Rebecca expertly personalized the trip for each member of the group, all the while fostering a group dynamic that was warm and welcoming. The quality of the local guides was outstanding, and these experiences greatly enriched the trip. Other than adding another night in Paris, I would not change anything about the tour."

- Scott & Sharon Jordan (Waldemar, Ontario)
