We do history differently.

OOTW25 is officially launching!

Marking 25 years since the first Canadian walked in space.

CanHist.ca and McMaster Children & Youth University (MCYU) are launching a national education initiative that connects Chris Hadfield’s historic 2001 mission with Canada’s next chapter in space exploration.

Led by CanHist.ca in partnership with MCYU, with support from national partners in education, science, and public history.

The history of a nation is not only in the parliaments and battlefields but in what the people say to each other on fair-days and high days, and in how they farm, and quarrel and go on pilgrimage.

— W.B. Yeats, quoted in Michael MacMahon

History isn’t just something found in textbooks or timelines

History is something we experience, share, and carry forward together.

At CanHist, we bring Canada’s stories to life through tours, learning programs, and national projects that connect past milestones with future possibilities.

We do history differently — making it engaging, meaningful, and unforgettable.
